Our Design Team

Our lead architects are Martin Xuereb and Associates, one of Malta’s top architectural practices. Over the past forty years they have successfully completed many innovative and prestigious projects for both private and commercial clients, amongst which are leading hotel brands both in Malta and overseas. Their portfolio includes the design, construction and finishing of landmark hotels, including an iconic hundred-metre hotel tower, numerous private villas, as well as the restoration and rehabilitation of many fine old buildings in Malta and Gozo.

Global design and consultancy firm One Works, led by Leonardo Cavalli, are responsible for the design of the retail and public open spaces at Townsquare. One Works’ many projects include the CityLife Plaza and Retail Centre in Milan, the Market shopping outlet in San Marino, Venice Marco International Airport and the stunning Riyadh Metro Western Station in Saudi Arabia. One Works are renowned for creating dynamic, intuitive places for people and communities.

Matteo Nunziati is considered one of the most influential international architects and designers of his generation and will exclusively design the interior concepts for the Tower residences at Townsquare. His award-winning studio in Milan has collaborated on some of the world’s most prestigious and visionary residential and hotel projects including the Aston Martin Residences in Miami, Trump Tower projects in India and Florida, the 5-star Rabban Suites West Bay 50-storey hotel in Qatar, the skyscraper penthouse in New York at 432 Park Avenue and the Bosco Verticale penthouse in Milan. 

PAISA’ are an international award-winning landscape design and urban planning company, led by Antonio Stignani,  responsible for developing the extensive landscaping plans for Townsquare together with Maltese landscape consultant Antoine Gatt. They comprise of an interdisciplinary group of professionals who consider environmental sustainability intrinsic to architecture in their projects, which include the Waterfront and “Sea Park” in Ravenna, King Abdul Aziz Road in Saudi Arabia, the Doha Transport Education Centre in Qatar, and several urban parks including San Dona Park in Venice.

Antoine Gatt is a leading Maltese landscape architect and our local consultant on plant selection and other landscape related issues with extensive experience in garden design, urban planning, public open space design and habitat conservation in both Malta and abroad. He has managed the EU funded LifeMedGreenRoof project, as well as lecturing and collaborating closely with the University of Malta’s Faculty for the Built Environment on green infrastructure and ecosystem services. He is currently reading for a Doctorate  in green roof performance and published numerous articles on sustainable urban design, sustainable landscapes, green infrastructure, and ecosystem services.
